  • Ace—A serve the opposing team isn’t able to pass, immediately resulting to a point.
  • Attack—An offensive action directing the ball to the floor, generally with force. This is also known as a “hit” or “spike.”
  • Block—A defensive action by one or more players aimed at deflecting an “attack” by jumping in front of the “attacker” and hitting the ball back to the opponent side.
  • Decoy—A move to hide the real “spiker” of the team.
  • Dig—A defensive action using both hands that is specifically used to pass a “spiked” ball.
  • Kill—A successful, legal attack that results to a point.
  • Mis-hit—This happens when the ball is not hit as the player intended, resulting to the ball spinning and moving to another direction.
  • Sideout—The ball is given from one team to another. This generally occurs when a team makes a mistake during a rally.

Always remember, the key to winning sports is to have proper, a thorough knowledge of the particular sport, and continuous practice.
